Within the framework of the community accountability project and in partnership with Raneen Foundation! Yemen, funded by the National Endowment for Democracy, Youth Organization for Development and Democracy organized this morning, Thursday 24 September 2020, election and renewal session for the Yemeni youth local council.
This event comes as a prelude to implement youth-led accountability sessions by members of the Local Youth Council. Each session includes 8 participation of the Local Youth Council, 8 community beneficiaries who equally represent men and women, and 8 government officials concerned with educational issues. The project responds to local community needs in Taiz and works to activate the role of the local youth council, which was established in 2013 by coordination between the Youth Organization for Development and Democracy and the local council in Taiz Governorate that consists of 45 young men and women between the ages of 18-30 years and represent all groups in society.
The project aims to ensure the continuation of effective accountability during crises and disasters to improve educational services and to facilitate access to them by the community in high quality taking into account the current situation in Taiz, which has been living under siege and war and epidemics outbreak of for about five years.
The project also aims to improve the local youth council performance in Taiz and strengthen its role in accountability. It also aims to improve the quality of educational services provided to the local community in Taiz by public and private schools.
