Within the context of the community accountability project activities and in partnership with Raneen Foundation! Yemen and funded by the National Endowment for Democracy and through the Local Council for Yemeni Youth, Youth Organization for Democracy and Development organized this morning, Sunday 22/11/2020, the second accountability session about military barracks in schools.
The session was attended by some social and leadership personalities, as well as several parents. Also, it was attended by:
Assistant Director of Taiz Police – Colonel / Samir Al-Ashbat
Official Spokesman for the National Army – Colonel / Abdul Basit Al-Bahar
Director of the Education Department in the Salah Directorate / Muhammad Abdo Hassan,
Deputy Director of the Education Department in the Cairo District / Qassem Hassan
Director of the Education Department at Al-Mudhaffar District / Adel Al-Alimi
Director of Public Relations in the province / Qasim Ibrahim
Director of the Office of the General Director in Al-Mudhaffar District / Mahyoub Al Habashi
The session reviewed many discussions focused on military barracks in schools, the justifications for their availability in some schools, and their negative impact on the education process and students. The session concluded by submitting some recommendations to the concerned authorities, to create and an appropriate educational resort that preserves the student’s right to education.
The project aims to ensure the continuation of effective accountability during crises and disasters to improve educational services and to facilitate access to them by the community in high quality taking into account the current situation in Taiz, which has been living under siege and war and epidemics outbreak of for about five years.
